My wobie box connection keeps dropping and audio stutters. What can I do?

If the wobie box loses its connection or audio stutters, check your network and devices. Work through these steps:

1. Set up 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

🔥 Many routers broadcast 2.4 and 5 GHz under the same network name (SSID). That can cause connection problems. Give the bands different names, such as MYWIFI_2.4GHz and MYWIFI_5GHz, or create a separate 2.4 GHz guest network. ‼️ Connect your phone to that network too. wobie fav and Spotify Connect need both devices on the same network.

2. Check the Wi-Fi signal

Check that your router's 2.4 GHz band is enabled. Make sure the wobie box receives a strong signal from the router or repeater. A poorly placed repeater can cause its own connection problems, so try turning it off temporarily.


3. Check your mesh network


A mesh system may automatically steer devices between 2.4 and 5 GHz. The wobie box uses 2.4 GHz, so this can interrupt its connection. Try:

  • Creating a separate 2.4 GHz guest network
  • Connecting your wobie box and phone to it
  • Turning off band steering or automatic band selection for that guest network


4. Check the Wi-Fi channel


Channels 1, 6 and 11 don't overlap on the 2.4 GHz band. If your router or mesh system uses another channel, try changing it to reduce interference.


5. Restart your devices


Turn off the wobie box, phone, router and repeater for at least 30 seconds, preferably two to three minutes, then turn them back on.


6. Keep software up to date


Check the router and repeater firmware. Old software can cause connection issues.
An update may also reset network settings. Afterwards, check:

  • Is the 2.4 GHz band still active? The wobie box uses only this band.
  • Have the Wi-Fi name (SSID) or password changed?
  • Are security settings suitable, such as WPA2?
  • Is automatic IP assignment (DHCP) on?
  • For mesh systems, also check the 2.4 GHz band, band steering and any separate networks.
  • Is the router or mesh system using channel 1, 6 or 11?

7. Check Wi-Fi security


The wobie box supports certain encryption methods. If your router is set to WPA3 only, use WPA2 or mixed WPA2/WPA3 mode.


8. Enable DHCP


Your router should assign each device a different IP address. Address conflicts can interrupt playback.

9. Reduce interference


Microwaves, Bluetooth devices and thick walls can weaken Wi-Fi. Place the wobie box nearer to the router or repeater with fewer obstacles.

In short:


A separate 2.4 GHz network or different names for the router's two bands often helps.
