My wobie box cannot connect to the Wi-Fi – what can I do?

If you're connecting your wobie box to a new home network, you'll need to connect your smartphone or tablet directly to your box via Wi-Fi. The wobie fav app will help you with this. Please ensure the following:

  1. Wi-Fi is activated on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Your wobie box must be in pairing mode.
  3. Ideally, your wobie box is connected to the power supply
  4. and you sit with the wobie box and the smartphone near the router to ensure a good signal.
If all of these things are in place and a connection error occurs, you can do the following with your Wi-Fi, your smartphone, and the wobie box. Since all three components need to communicate with each other, it's important to check all devices:

Your network settings:

  1. Check if your router is turned on and Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz is enabled and deactivate the 5 GHz frequency band in your router settings as a test to "force" the wobie box and the smartphone or tablet into the same network.
Alternatively, you can set up a 2.4 GHz guest access* on your router or create a mobile hotspot**. This allows you to check whether a basic connection with the wobie box is possible. Instructions for setting up guest access can be found in your router's manual. How to connect the wobie box to a mobile hotspot is described here.

  2. If you're using a repeater or mesh network, then this article might be of interest to you.

  3. Make sure that no other wireless devices (such as a baby monitor) are causing interference.

  4. Restart your router . Wait at least 3 minutes before turning it back on.

Your smartphone:

  1. Restart your smartphone or tablet and wait at least 3 minutes before turning it on again.
  2. If possible, please try to connect the wobie box to your Wi-Fi using another smartphone or tablet.
  3. If you have a VPN activated on your smartphone, turn it off and check whether the wobie box can connect to the wobie fav app.

Your wobie box:

  1. Reset the wobie box to factory settings by pressing the button that toggles between connection types "Wi-Fi > Bluetooth > microSD card" for at least 10 seconds. The wobie box must be turned on and in Wi-Fi mode.

* If you have set up your wobie box with a 2.4 GHz guest access, your smartphone must also be connected to this Wi-Fi network so that you can play music via Spotify Connect on the wobie box and set up the rainbow buttons.

**Remember: If you temporarily set up the wobie box via a mobile hotspot , make sure you reconnect it to the Wi-Fi immediately so you don't use up your data allowance!
