How do I play my own music offline on the wobie box?
Want to play your own music files offline on the wobie box but not sure how it works?
This step-by-step guide shows you everything you need – how to prepare your music files, organize them on a microSD card, and assign the right albums to the correct rainbow buttons.
What you need:
- A microSD card (up to 128 GB)
- Music files in .mp3, .wma, or .wav format
- A computer
Step 1: Prepare your microSD card
Insert the microSD card into your computer. If not already done, format the card in the FAT file system (not NTFS!).
Step 2: Create the folder structure
To let the wobie box know which album belongs to which rainbow button, create exactly 8 folders on the card – with the exact names shown in the illustration.
⚠️ Make sure to use the correct spelling!
Step 3: Transfer your music
Copy your music files into the corresponding folders. Keep in mind:
- Transfer the tracks in the order you want them to play.
👉 The order is based on the file’s timestamp – the first copied file will play first. - Keep an eye on file length to make navigation easier and avoid long loading times.
That’s it! 🎉
Now insert the microSD card into the wobie box:
- Unscrew the three screws at the bottom of the box to open the case.
- Insert the microSD card into the dedicated slot.
- Turn on the wobie box.
- Activate Offline Mode (microSD card mode) by pressing the button behind the silicone flap on the bottom until the small LED next to the button, or the center LED on top of the box, lights up yellow.
Now just press a rainbow button – and enjoy your music!
Important note about file length
We recommend that individual audio files are no longer than 10 minutes.
Longer files (e.g., a 1-hour story) may cause long loading times and make navigation within the file harder.
👉 If you have longer recordings, you can easily split them into shorter sections. Free tools include:
- Magic Cutter
- Wavepad Audio Editor
- MP3 Trimmer
These programs make it quick and simple to split or trim your audio files.
Can you download Spotify to the microSD card?
No. To listen to music from Spotify, you need a Wi-Fi connection. Spotify tracks cannot be saved to the SD card – the wobie box only plays local files (e.g., MP3s).
