Error naming the wobie box during setup – How to proceed
If an error occurs when setting up the wobie box when you try to give it a name, there may be several reasons for this. Please follow these steps:
1. Restart app & devices
- Make sure you have the latest version of the wobie fav app installed.
- Turn off the wobie box .
- Close the wobie fav app completely (don't just put it in the background).
- Turn the wobie box back on and wait for the typical “Mhm” sound – this indicates that it is connected to the Wi-Fi.
- Now open the wobie fav app . The wobie box should appear and can be named via the settings.
2. Alternative connection method
If the box does not appear automatically:
- Tap “Connect existing wobie box” and wait until it appears in the list.
Requirement: The box must already be connected to your Wi-Fi (recognizable by the “Mhm” sound). - No sound? Then it's not connected to the Wi-Fi network yet. Select "Set up new wobie box" to establish the connection.
3. Check Wi-Fi
-
🔥 Make sure your Wi-Fi is set to 2.4 GHz – this is especially important!
If it still doesn't work, try setting up the wobie box via a mobile hotspot or a 2.4 GHz guest network .
Make sure that your smartphone is connected to the same network as the wobie box – only then can the connection work. - Avoid using repeaters or mesh systems during setup.
- You can find further tips in the article: My wobie box cannot be connected to the WLAN.
4. Check your smartphone
- Restart your smartphone for at least 3 minutes to clear the cache.
- Make sure there is enough storage space available.
- If possible, try setting up with a different device .
